Ya puedes meter a una llamada de WhatsApp a quien NO tiene WhatsApp: solo le mandas un enlace

You've probably been there: you want a video call with a client, a supplier or even your aunt, and it turns out they don't use WhatsApp. Cue downloading Zoom, sending a Meet link or wrestling with another app. Well, that just changed. Since October 14, 2026, WhatsApp lets people without an account join its calls. You just send them a link.

WhatsApp announced it on its official blog, with a headline that says it all: invite anyone, no account, no cost, no time limit.

Creating the link takes seconds: Calls tab, the + button, done.

How it works (easier than it sounds)

The feature is called "guest calling." The steps:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to the Calls tab.
  2. Tap + and create a call link, a web address that takes people straight to your call.
  3. Send it to whoever you want, by email, text or anywhere.
  4. They open it in their computer browser, type their name and ask to join.

One detail: only someone with WhatsApp can create the link. Guests can't start calls, only join the ones they're invited to.

You decide who gets in

Every guest lands in a waiting room, like a doctor's lobby: they wait until you, the host, let them in. And you can remove anyone at any time.

Nobody gets in without your OK: guests wait until you approve them.

Guests can't see anyone's phone number, can't send messages and can't add more people.

Calls stay end-to-end encrypted. In plain words: the conversation travels "in code" and only the people on the call can understand it; not even WhatsApp can listen.

The numbers, quickly

  • Up to 32 people on one voice or video call.
  • No time limit. No getting cut off at 40 minutes.
  • Free for you and for the guest.

Guests can also share their computer screen, react with 👍 or ❤️ and raise their hand.

What about for a business?

Lots of businesses in Mexico already live on WhatsApp: quotes, payments, customer questions. But there's always that corporate client or foreign supplier who doesn't use the app. Now you can send them a link and hold the meeting without asking them to install anything or share their number.

  • Go over a quote or a design live with screen sharing.
  • Run a class or training for people who aren't in your contacts.
  • Hold a job interview without the candidate seeing your personal number.

Coming next: calls from your calendar

WhatsApp also said that later this year it will release a plugin for Google Calendar and Outlook. A plugin is a small add-on that gives a program new features. With it you'll be able to drop a WhatsApp call link right into a meeting invite, like you do today with Meet or Teams. There's no exact date yet.

Outlets like Engadget and Business Standard confirmed the same details.

Bottom line

WhatsApp wants its calls to work with anyone, app or not. If your business already talks to clients on WhatsApp, maybe it's time it had a website that works just as well. Presticorp can help.
