OpenAI apaga Sora el 24 de septiembre: descarga tus videos ahora o se pierden

Only a couple of days left: on September 24, 2026 OpenAI shuts off Sora, its AI video tool. If you still have clips stored there, this is the moment to download them.

The Sora website and app already closed on April 26, 2026. What turns off now is the video service many apps connected to: the programming interface (API) that apps used to request videos from OpenAI. It covers the sora-2 and sora-2-pro models, plus the dated versions developers relied on.

On OpenAI’s official deprecations page, the “recommended replacement” column is empty. In plain terms, that means there is no official substitute listed for that video service.

If you are a creator, small business, or developer who used Sora for campaigns, prototypes, or social content, the consequence is direct: after September 24 those videos may become inaccessible on the platform. OpenAI points people to export or download their material while the sunset access remains open.

The recommended exit point is sora.chatgpt.com/sunset. You can pull your files there before the cutoff. There is no need to wait until the last minute: with two days of margin, do it today.

For anyone who built products on top of the API, the notice is not new: it was published on March 24, 2026. Even so, many accounts leave backups for the end. If your app still calls those models, on September 24 it will stop getting a response.

Bottom line: a firm date, no official replacement listed, and a short window to keep your work. Download your videos, save a copy in your own storage, and plan another video tool if your workflow depended on Sora.
